Nr. III Handelsovereenkomst tussen het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en de Belgisch-Luxemburgse Economische Unie, enerzijds, en Japan, anderzijds

Excellency,

I have the honour to refer to the Agreement on Commerce between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Belgo-Luxemburg Economic Union on the One Hand and Japan on the Other Hand, signed today. The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands propose, in view of the conclusion of the Agreement on Commerce mentioned above and also in view of the recent developments in international trade and payments, to terminate as of today the following arrangements between the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Government of Japan, in accordance with the relevant provisions of these arrangements;

(a) The Notes concerning the trade between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Japan exchanged in Tokyo on November 8, 1951 between Mr. P. E. Teppema, then Chief of the Netherlands Mission in Japan and Mr. S. Iguchi, then Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, and all documents annexed to the above Notes.

(b) The Payments Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Government of Japan, signed at The Hague on May 28, 1957 and all documents annexed thereto.

I have further the honour to propose that this note and Your Excellency's reply confirming the acceptance by your Government of the above proposal shall be regarded as constituting an agreement between the two Governments.

I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency the assurance of my highest consideration.
